Promoting energy efficiency in Ukraine.

The warm months are about to end and most Ukrainians start considering how they can save money in winter time, when communal bills are expected to rise even more dramatically. This need fostered the numbers of people across the country who are more supportive of energy efficiency and usage of energy saving technologies and materials.

Therefore many households start planning to change to better quality windows, doors, roofing, flooring and the insulation of the facades. The government is trying to support these initiatives and motivate with government's energy saving program, which started in October 2014.

The results of this program have been astonishing and extremely successful. The rate of issue of energy efficiency loans under the program "Oschadny house" index reached more than 1,000 per week. Only from 3 to 31 August 2015 Ukrainian banks issued by the state program of energy efficiency loans worth 139.4 million UAH, which is equivalent of 6, 3 millions USD. At the same time people are getting substantial government support, which is respectively 20% and 40% of the loan taken for energy-efficient equipment and materials. Credit is given for up to 36 months with the rate of the loan is 25% per annum and the compulsory contribution - 10% of the value of the goods.

As for the future perspectives it is worth mentioning there are 239 thousand apartment buildings in Ukraine and 80% of them are in need of repair and thermo modernization.
